#163–G109 ~ Galatians 4:19 – How Christ is formed in the believer
How is Christ “formed” in someone? This is something that is supposed to happen in the life of every believer. It doesn’t happen instantaneously like salvation does. Instead, this is a process involving growth in one’s understanding of the things God would have us to know from Scripture. Here we’ll look at some passages that speak of this. Ephesians 5:1 is the first we’ll note in this study. Here he speaks of becoming an imitator of Christ. This should be the objective of every believer. God has always wanted people to learn to live by the directives of His word. Matthew 4:18-19 is another passage on this. Here I discuss several questions, including things about the King James Version of the Bible. 2 Timothy 2:15 and the principle of what is called right division is also a part of my subject matter here. Here I point out the difference between studying Scripture and being diligent about one’s application of it. Studying alone is never enough. We need to always study with a view toward applying it in one’s life. It is THIS that is the subject of 2 Timothy 2:15.
We then go to 1 Corinthians 2:9 and following. This is a passage that is commonly taken out of context and misunderstood. I then go on to explain what’s in the context that provides a correct understanding of what is being said. Here Paul is emphasizing the importance of spiritual truth, not just things that have only temporal value. I hope you enjoy and find the lesson helpful.
