Truth: What are some basic truths I can always rely on?

Gary Googe Mar 02

1) I know that the Bible is God’s wisdom, representing the way to a happy and fulfilling life. Hence, I know my life will not be a matter of chance, but a matter of choice determined by my submission to the authority of God’s Word.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 8:17-19

17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

Romans 15:4

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

2) I know that I can rely upon the accuracy of the Bible for God’s leadership of my life. However, I also know that I must learn and apply the meaning of rightly dividing the Scriptures.

II Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

II Timothy 2:15

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

3) I know that my salvation from eternal condemnation is a gift that is mine by God’s grace through my personal faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, not by my own works of righteousness.

Romans 4:4-5

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

I Corinthians 15:1-4

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

4) I know that my chief purpose in life is to do those works that are pleasing to God.

Ephesians 2:10

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

II Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

5) I know that my salvation is perfectly secure because there is not a sin I could ever commit that was not judged in Jesus Christ when He was crucified. Furthermore, I know that even as a disobedient child of God, I will still be a child of God forever.

II Corinthians 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Galatians 3:26

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

6) I know that because of all God’s mercies that have been expressed toward me, I owe Him a life of complete submission to His will in all things.

Romans 12:1-2

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

7) I know that I have a powerful and wealthy heavenly Father who has promised to meet my every need according to His riches.

Philippians 4:19

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 3:20

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

8) I know that I have access to God through prayer to speak and get a response from Him regarding anything that concerns me. I therefore have nothing to fear.

Philippians 4:6-7

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

II Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.

9) I know that no matter what happens to me God will use it for my good.

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

10) I know that God has provided and revealed many wonderful things in His Word that I need to learn that are for my blessing in both time and eternity.

I Corinthians 2:9-10

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11) I know that I will be rewarded in eternity in accordance with my obedience to God’s Word.

II Corinthians 5:10

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

I Corinthians 3:10-15

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

12) I know that ultimately God will complete His work in me.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

13) I know that it is God’s desire for me to be completely successful in the fulfillment of His plan for my life, and that only my own foolishness can hinder this.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
