#139-G85 ~ Galatians 3:22 continued
I begin with some comments about what 4Us2Us represents. ALL the Bible is FOR us but it is not all TO us or ABOUT us today. That’s an extremely important principle every believer needs to master. It is also called the right division of Scripture as per 2 Timothy 2:15.
I then discuss the fact that salvation is a gift, not a reward for our works. Verse 22 of our passage is discussing this. Salvation is graciously GIVEN to those who believe in what Christ accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection.
I then go to Romans 3:23 that points out our need for a Savior. We can’t save ourselves by anything we might DO. I then address some of the confusion about this, pointing out that salvation is truly A GIFT that comes to people by grace through faith in what Jesus Christ did to provide it [Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Titus 3:5; Romana 4:4-5].
I then discuss 1 Corinthians 12:13 and how people become members of what is called the body of Christ. This is a baptism, but a dry one performed by God the Holy Spirit. I then discuss Romans 3:22 & 24 that discusses how people today gain the righteousness of God by which they can become acceptable to God for salvation. I then conclude with another important verse about all this–2 Corinthians 5:21.
