#145-G91 ~ Galatians 3:26-29

Gary Googe Jan 07

I begin by talking about the importance of preparing for eternity because each of us will end up in one of two places–Heaven or Hell. I also begin with some review on verse twenty-six where we see that faith in Christ is the sole means to salvation.–becoming a child of God. I then point out that there are all kinds of children in the family of God, obedient and disobedient. But either way, they are children of God and they always will be.

I continue this study with another look at some things in Romans 8:14-18. As redemption a part of the first part of this passage, the principle of adoption is the subject in the second part. I then explain this principle of adoption and how it functioned in that day throughout the Roman Empire. Paul takes this subject and relates it to us as God’s people today. Having become joint-heirs with Christ puts us in a position of privilege, sharing in all the spiritual blessings that belong to our Lord Jesus Christ. What a wonderful position this gives us permanently!

In Galatians 3:27 we get into the subject of the baptism of the Holy Spirit where we’re identified permanently with Christ at the point of our salvation. Verse twenty-eight then shows there are no social distinctions when placed in union with Christ. The means to this is stated in I Corinthians 12:13-the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I then discuss the subject of church membership as it is discussed here vs. how it is typically thought of in our time. As I conclude the chapter I discuss what it means to be a part of “Abraham’s seed.” What this is talking about is the essential element of faith that’s to be in all God’s people for God’s blessing. Such has ALWAYS been the case. And what THAT means is that personal works have nothing to do with it all. They’re important AFTER one’s salvation but not in achieving it. Here I make some comments about some things we saw back in Galatians 3:6-7. I then conclude with comments about Romans 4:4-5 & Ephesians 2:8-9.
