Evolution: How can it simply be proven false?
The first thing we need to realize about this is that the Bible is a reliable book for truth on every subject it addresses, including creation.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God [THEOPNEUSTOS = God-breathed], and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect [TELEIOS = complete, fully developed, matured], thoroughly furnished unto all good works. [Emphasis added]
The Bible is the most reliable book any one of us will ever hold in our hands. The only correct reason some people don’t believe the Bible is that they don’t want to believe it. They may try to convince you otherwise, but this is the truth of the matter. People, because of their sinfulness, quite naturally resist God and His authority over them. That authority is expressed in the pages of Scripture with all its commands and prohibitions.
If a person continues to reject the truthfulness of Scripture, you’re not going to be able to convince them of a lot of things the Bible states. Therefore, instead of focusing on trying to defend the truthfulness of the Bible we need to proclaim it boldly and accurately. It is much like trying to convince someone of the capabilities of a gun. The best way to convince them is to fire it at something. It is the presentation of the truths of the Bible that will get the best results of convincing them, not focusing on what is spoken of in theological circles as apologetics. The Bible does not need our defense. It will defend itself as we are faithful to proclaim its truths.
One of the first things that must be realized about all this is that Adam and Eve who are discussed in Genesis were two real people, not symbols of humanity.
Mark 10:5-6
5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. [Emphasis added]
This is a reference to Adam and Eve. They were not only the first human beings, but they were also the first to sin. If evolution is true, there’s no place for one man and his fall into sin. However, Scripture tells us this all began with this one man, Adam. Please notice the many times this next passage tells us the man Adam was one man.
Romans 5:12-19
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression [as it was in the Garden of Eden], who is the figure of him [Jesus Christ] that was to come.
Like Moses, Adam was one man.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness [having been justified by faith] shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
This is why Christ is sometimes spoken of as the last Adam.
1 Corinthians 15:45
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. [Emphasis added]
Romans 5:12-19 continued
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift [provided by faith in God’s provision] came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous [speaking again of justification by faith]. [Emphasis added]
With a passage like this can there be any doubt that Adam was one man? With evolution this would be impossible! If evolution was true man would have begun as a unicellular organism becoming many. In the process there would have been many men evolving at the same time, making many men and women. Also, doesn’t the comparison of Adam to the accomplishment of Christ on the cross also demonstrate that all this is to be taken literally just as it stands. If the theory of evolution was true, it would completely wipe out the truthfulness of all these passages of Scripture about the one man Adam, creation and more.
An important question also needs to be asked about all this–Where is there any evidence of evolution going on today? If evolution is what brought mankind to where he is today, certainly there would be those around us in the more primitive stages of it. But obviously we have none of that. Evolution is a lie! It is man’s futile attempt to cover up the truth about God and His work in creation.
Again, the problem with all this is not to do with a lack of evidence; the heart of the problem is man’s tendency to resist the truth about these things. If there is a God who placed man here, then we are all accountable to Him. It is this accountability factor more than anything that is resisted. People know the implications of the Genesis account. They realize that this not only means there’s a God, but One to whom we are all accountable.
Romans 14:11
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. [Emphasis added]
Either now or later, all will bow to Him acknowledging His deity and His rightful place in our lives. Jesus Christ is the One before whom we all will bow.
Philippians 2:9-11
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him [Jesus Christ], and given him a name [or title] which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [Emphasis added]
None of the writers of Scripture correct the Bible’s Genesis account of creation; they only quote it. Throughout His earthly ministry Jesus would quote from it. Here’s the record of His words.
Luke 24:27
27 And beginning at Moses [who wrote Genesis] and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. [Emphasis added]
Again, He never corrected it. He only quoted it.
However, the most important things we’re to gain from our reading and studying of the Bible is not what it says about God’s work in the creation, but His Son’s work to provide mankind with a way of salvation. Instead of the original creation, it is about the new creation He wants to make of fallen, sinful man. When a person today accepts Christ’s work to provide them with salvation, they are said to then become a new creation, a new creature in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17-20
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
Then note what God did in Christ to make this reconciliation and resultant salvation possible for each of us.
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them [holding all our sins against Christ who was judged for them on the cross]; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. [Emphasis added]
Have you been reconciled to your Creator? It is this Creator of the universe who wants to save you and provide you with a wonderful future in a place called Heaven.
Colossians 1:16-17
16 For by him [Jesus Christ] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before [antedates] all things, and by him all things consist [SUNISTEMI = stand together, cohere]. [Emphasis added]
Accept by faith His payment for your sins through His death, burial, and resurrection and you’ll be saved immediately and permanently. It was the Savior Jesus Christ who made this possible by what He did for each of us.
Romans 5:6
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. [Emphasis added]
That’s you and me he’s talking about. Accept what He did for you, and you can be saved right now.
